Aktivity

Norwegian Salmon Rivers (NSR) preserves a regular working relationship with the Ministry of the Environment and the Directorate of Nature Management. Norwegian Salmon Rivers is an NGO-member of the North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organization (NASCO). Norwegian has one person employed as Manager in the organization's secretary. The Board of the organization consists of 7 members, 5 representing the different regions of the country.

The main objective for NSR is to organise, develop and manage river fishing as an important part of the rural economy and to secure a biological and ecological future for the wild salmon stocks.

NSRs principal duties and responsibilities are:

•  Gathering information and advising our member associates,

•  Maintaining regular contact with the National Assembly, a conglomerate of national ministries and government agencies,

•  Maintaining regular contact and relationships with other national and international NGOs

•  Briefing and working with the national and international media,

Promoting the organization's interests in media and political lobbying has been of special importance. Much of the political lobbying has been in cooperation with Norwegian Farmers' Union, Norwegian Hunters' and Sportfishers' Association, commercial fishing associations, World Wildlife Fund Norway, the Nature Conservancy Organisation, and other NGOs working with wild Atlantic salmon. NSR should be credited for establishing and upholding a diverse coalition of interest groups who now stand strong and united on conservation issues.
